30 years of the Weimar Triangle

Weimar Triangle

Two-part series of events on German-Polish-French dialogue

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Weimar Triangle, the Viadrina, the Genshagen Foundation and the Centre Marc Bloch hosted an online discussion event in September 2021. "30 years of the Weimar Triangle: What prospects for European integration?" was the question posed to the European Affairs Ministers of France, Poland and Germany and to an academic panel. The critical examination of the Franco-German-Polish relationship was organised and prepared by Lars Kirchhoff at Viadrina. A description of the event can be found in the Viadrina Logbuch.

Another event followed in May 2022, this time at Genshagen Castle and in person. At the two-day symposium entitled "New relevance of the Weimar Triangle in the face of the war in Ukraine?", 40 experts from Germany, France and Poland discussed the reaction of the Weimar Triangle to the war in Ukraine. Lars Kirchhoff also helped prepare and organise this event. A conference summary was published by the Genshagen Foundation.
