Martin Wählisch
After completing his Master's degree in Mediation and Conflict Management at the European University Viadrina and his PhD in international law on peace treaties, Martin Wählisch specialised in peace and dialogue processes in international conflict regions such as Lebanon, Yemen, Afghanistan and Kosovo. He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham (UK) and specialises in the development of new methods and technologies to support mediation and conflict prevention. He previously worked for the United Nations for over ten years, most recently in the Policy and Mediation Division of the Department of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding at the UN Secretariat (UN DPPA) in New York, where he led the Innovation Team. He has also published numerous contributions to peace research, including the books "Rethinking Peace Mediation: Challenges of Contemporary Peacemaking Practice" (2021) and "The Imperfect Peace" (2020). Martin Wählisch is regularly involved in various projects of the Centre for Peace Mediation as an associate member.
